How Bad Do You Want It
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. ~ Genesis 32:24-26 (KJV)
Have you ever wanted something so bad, either it was your own business, your ministry to grow, a husband or wife or maybe to buy your first home? However the odds were against you at all angle. Today God wants to let you know your heart’s desire is within your reach. The only thing is, you have to press to get it. How bad do you really want it? Are you willing to wrestle like Jacob did alone in the dark time of need, fighting for your desired blessings?
Jacob’s only desired outcome in his encounter with the Lord, was to receive his blessing. He settled for no other alternative. He did not give up, quit or throw in the towel. Even when he was injured in the process, he still fought for what he was promised. Jacob was persistent.
Why do you think God wrestled with Jacob before releasing his blessing? Why did Jacob need to sacrifice so much before his named was changed? I believe God wanted to test Jacob to see if he was serious about the double portion. To much is given much is required. See Jacob was already a wealthy man, however he had a history of being a trickster, he was immature in moral matters, and God wanted to not only prove him but show Jacob himself, what he was trully made of, and that was Greatness!
So how do we wrestle with the Lord to have him release upon us our promises? The answer comes from Matthew 7:7-8 were Jesus teaches us to “ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened”.
To wrestle means; to pray without ceasing, to Ask, Seek, and Knock, over and over again. Then listen for Gods instructions and strategies that he gives in order for you to have the blessings released.
God wants to give you the desires of your heart. But he is also a loving and caring father who wants to make sure you can handle it. So press in, push forth, and wrestle with the Lord to show him your capacity and tenacity to handle the Blessing.
I’m praying for you…
