The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

I run a weekly support group, here in Sacramento Ca, on Wednesday nights. And the participants attend for various reasons. Some for anger management, addictions, and or other mental illness symptoms such as depression or anxiety.

Tonight's topic was on building self-esteem, I discussed the six pillars to building your self esteem. Of the six was: The Practice of Living Purposefully.

This pillar raised the greatest discussion. Many of the participants had no idea of what their purpose was and none of them were living intentionally fulfilling their purpose.

Today's Lesson: When you live purposely you live happily.

I found in my years of treating clients, that individuals who are struggling with mental ill health such as addictions, relational problems, depression and the like are presenting with worsening symptoms daily because they are not actively engaged in their divine purpose.

Some non-married individuals are obsessed with getting married to the point it depresses them when they see couples walking down the street holding hands. Married couples are arguing and bickering over the little stuff walking into the door of divorce. While others are distant from God, confused about who they are and not living purposefully.

What is living purposefully?

It’s when you live each day fulfilling what you were created on the earth to do. Like water, the trees, the sun, the moon, everything has a purpose, including us. You have one purpose and that comes from God. You may have many platforms or assignments that you decide to do with your purpose. If you are the mayor, that is not your purpose that is your platform. If you are a preacher that is again your platform.

My purpose is to heal the individual so that they can heal the world. And I do this on the platforms of a writer (blogger), author, preacher, teacher, servant-leader, mother, and psychotherapist. Each of my days I am intentional to fulfill my purpose within my daily assignment and platforms.

So when we are embarking on the journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God we must accompany this pursuit with living a purposeful life. Plan each day with your life's purpose in mind.

Take a piece of paper and write down all your platforms, assignments, jobs, talents, and gifts. Then reflect to see if you are fulfilling your purpose within all of those areas. If you don't know your purpose get my book, Beautiful Greatness; The Psychology of The Unlimited Life to be walked through the process of self discovery.

When you have done all of the above plan to live every day purposefully. And when you do, your heart will thank you for all the happiness you have allowed to enter into it because you are being authentic to who you really are. Until tomorrow live and be happy!

With Beautiful Love
