Day 33: SEEKING THE TRUTH
The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 33: SEEKING THE TRUTH
I just finished watching this cute movie called “Christian Mingle”, it’s name is inspired by the dating website with the same name. If you haven't watched it, I promise I will not give away any spoilers. But what stood out to me was the main character, Gwyneth Hayden, who is a marketing executive that gets in touch with her spiritual side, while trying to find Mr. Right, struggled with truth.
Today’s Lesson: When you seek the truth you will find it. When you seek a delusion guess what? You will find that to. You must decide which one you want.
Have you ever daydreamed about your crush, your favorite movie star or what life would be like if you could date your boss or pastor. (I’m keeping it 100% real) I counsel more women and sometimes men who have obsessions with their boss or clergy leader, that I dare to count.
(And what grieves me is the boss or clergy leaders know it and entertain it, causing more devastation to the individual. Pardon me, I needed to digress for a moment. I will address that issue in another blog post)
Back to my main topic...
Regarding the daydreaming….I mean you have a full blown cinema movie played out in your head on repeat. Only to be disappointed, discouraged and devastated, when it never happens the way you want it to. And I’m not just talking about the unmarried. Some married people have daydreams and fantasies about others outside their marriage, and feel like it’s okay because they haven't done anything physically.
This my friends is a delusional mindset. It’s a false reality. When you seek false realities that is what you will get. But when you seek the truth, you get the truth.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
The way Gwyneth found her truth was when she found Jesus in the Word of God. She began to diligently seek for the truth, that ultimately set her free to be who she was intended to be.
The same is true for us today. When we seek the Kingdom of God first, through the word of God, all things will be added to us. That includes a happy journey to singleness, marriage and intimacy with God.
You don't ever have to make believe or live in a false reality in order to feel loved. Because opening your heart to the real love of God is better than any fictional story could ever be.
Until tomorrow, seek for truth, your truth.
With Beautiful Love
