The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 61: BE A CHILD
“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:15.
Today’s lesson: Continue to practice being a little child so that your relationships in your singleness, marriage and intimacy with God will forever be within the kingdom.
I taught a bible study last week entitled “Kingdom 101”. When I began teaching the segment regarding who can enter the Kingdom I asked the congregation when was the last time they blew bubbles. I instantly saw many faces turn into the sour faces look. This look is one of the most discussed and disdain. If I was inside their minds I could hear phrases like
“Doesn't she know who I am? I'm deacon Jones Why would I blow bubbles'
“This is not children's church...wrong audience preacher”
“That is for kids”
“That’s childish and I’m no child”
One brave member raised his hand and said I have bubbles, but their for my grandchildren. My response...Why?
God must have instructed us to be like little children for an important reaction. Because it was a stipulation to be in the Kingdom.
Why do we need to be like a little child? Because little children:
Have no fears (if they do they were inherited by a fearful adult in their life)
Have no limitations and boundaries to living (they are invisible and adventurous in nature)
Trust with no reserve or restrictions (Mom and dad can provide all at all times)
Forgive always. Little children don't hold grudges, hate, jealousy, ulterior motives (two little children can fight, a two minutes later be best friends again playing together like nothing ever happened.
Retire the serious I’m an adult attitude and take time to harness you little child nature. Ways to embrace your little child include: swing at the park, dance with little kids, blow bubbles, play with playdoh, watch a cartoon. The goal decrease fears, limitations & boundaries, trust issues, unforgiveness.
Until tomorrow find your inner child and play your way into the kingdom of God and into a beautiful journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God.
With Beautiful Love
