The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 63: THE MOST POWERFUL CONDITION OF THE HEART
As the journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God unfolds, matters of the heart will begin to bubble up. Matters regarding trust, hurts, love, forgiveness and submission.
Today’s Lesson: The most powerful condition of the heart is it’s submission
The scriptures most commonly recited is Ephesians 5:21, Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. And Ephesians 5:22, “wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord”. Another is James 4:7, which states to “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.
Why is it important for us to submit our hearts to on another, our husbands, wives and unto the Lord.
The story of the centurion can give us a glimpse to the answer.
In the book of Matthew chapter 8 we learn of a centurion who came to Jesus to request the healing of his servant. The centurion beseeches Jesus to not come to his house, but to just speak a word. You see he knew his servant would be healed with just a healing word from Jesus.
But how did he know this? And how is this significant to today’s lesson of submission? I’m glad you asked.
You first must know about a centurion. A centurion was a professional military officer commanding a platoon of troops called a “century.” This could be anywhere from nearly one hundred to several hundred men. However, the centurion was also under the command of a higher ranking officer. So he knew how to submit and he had others who submitted to him.
So when he approached Jesus he knew of what authority Jesus was submitted to and that was the authority of God who has power over all.
Therefore, when you submit to others, when you submit to your leaders, spiritual parents, pastors, husband, wives you are ultimately submitting to the Lord, and when you submit to the Lord you have access to all that submits to Him, because when you submit you gain power from the one you are submitted to.
What does that mean? When you live with a submitted heart, sickness must obey, demons must obey, poverty must obey, winds and waves must obey. When you are submitted you can tread upon serpents, evil communication is voided out and has no power over you and what concerns you.
So I submit to you my friend to change your perception of submitting, even if that person you must submit to is in your eyes a fool, less qualified than you, wrong in judgment, it is not your business. It is your business to submit, and God your father who has power over all will settle the matter on your behalf.
So until tomorrow train your heart to be submissive, and the power of God will be upon you!
With Beautiful Love
