The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 109: THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT MARRIAGE
As an unmarried woman I have more married men then unmarried men approach me. My first thought is “are you crazy?” “The only man I will share is Jesus!” “And your not Him Sir!”
I never understood why men or women who were married stepped out of their marital vows to have affairs. As a psychotherapist I have counselled hundreds of couples do to this very thing.
Some reasons that were given by the one who stepped out or ran out of the marital vows to have the affair, was they
It just happened
“It was just for sex not love”
You (the partner) where not there for me
"I Was So Drunk, I Don't Remember Anything"
"I Was Lonely"
"It Was Just ONE Time"
“I’m a man so it’s normal to cheat”
“I was seduced”
It was YOUR fault
“I was only trying to help her out “
“I married the wrong person, their my real soulmate”
“I don’t know why I did it”
You know what I would say back to them…”Liar” You did it because YOU wanted to. Simple answer. With harmful and complex consequences.
Today’s Lesson: Marriage is not just with two people it’s with the world.
In this journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God it is imperative to know the sanctity of marriage. It’s no longer about you as an individual person. Yes you are forever within your singleness however when you join with another person with the consummation of sexual intimacy in marriage, every decision and action you make creates the butterfly effect, with your spouse, children, extended family, work, community, government, school system, law enforcement, mental health, and on and on.
In chaos theory, it defines the butterfly effect as a phenomenon that when there is a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system it can result in large differences to a later state.
So until tomorrow for those who are unmarried pray for a faithful partner now, those who are married, think outside of yourself before you act because it’s not just about your two second thrill it’s about the trajectory of our world.
With Beautiful Love
