The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

I’m sitting here in the San Francisco Airport awaiting my flight and everywhere I turn I see swarms of security officers.

It made me reflect on a particular reason some seek or stay in relationships.

The seeking singles like myself believe that having a companion creates a sense of security. A security from being alone, a security from harm, and even a financial security. Those who maybe in relationships that are not God's will for their life may also stay in those relationships for security from being alone, from harm and financial security as well.

Today’s Lesson: Be only secure in God.

As we travel along the journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God the need for security will arise. And it will be easy to lean on another person to provide that security. But God is telling us today that the only true and pure security is from Him and Him alone. All other forms are an illusion.

They are an illusion because they are temporary. Here one minute and gone the next. For example, none of the security guards who are swarming the parameters of the airport will follow me to my vehicle and secure my drive home. They will not meet me at my house and secure my home neither. Their services are temporary and conditional.

This is also true with others who we have relationships with. Their presence in our lives, even though we would hope would be forever, can end. No one I pray goes into a marriage anticipating to be divorce. I know I didn't. However we have them.

So until tomorrow love others but find security in God.

With Beautiful Love
