The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Today I was cooking oatmeal cookies with my godmother. She is a retired teacher/vice principal who taught math and the schools cooking class. I tell you her backstory because a normal baking experience with her is far from ordinary. A beautiful yet hilarious mixture of sweetness, teaching and discipline.

Our goal this time was to create soft on the inside yet crunchy on the outside oatmeal cookies for my godfather, who is a retired youth authority Lieutenant Officer. I'm telling you no duel moments with these two.

Okaaaayyyyy, back to the story......

As we are laughing and having fun in the kitchen mixing all the ingredients together my Godmother gives me a lesson that I know was from the Lord.

Today’s Lesson: A cookie is like your life. You have the choice of what kind of cookie/life you want.

She further explained to me...

"You must know that the same ingredients that are in a cake are also in a cookie...flour, butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla, baking soda or baking powder. What is even more fascinating is that an oatmeal cookie can have all the exact ingredients elements, yet result in being crispy, soft, or cake-like. What changes the texture or for us the experience of that oatmeal cookie is just the variation of the amount of each ingredient within the different type of oatmeal cookie."

What does any of this have to do with the journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God? You must first know what you want in and from a relationships and then add and mix it accordingly.

For example:

If you want a greater relationship with yourself...add self-esteem, self-love, self-worth add mix in all together with some respect & praise.

If you want a greater relationship with your boo...add effective communication, quality time, passion and mix in some of that fresh respect & praise.

If you want a greater intimacy with God...add worship, devotion, truth and mix it all with a whole lot of respect & praise.

As for my oatmeal cookies, I like mine crunchy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, so I added more butter and more sugar and added a secret ingredient of love. LOL

Until tomorrow we all have a choice of what type of cookie/life we want to have. So choose how you want that cookie/life to be. It’s your choice. #yum yum

With Beautiful Love
