The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Could you survive alone on an island? Some would say yes. And they are right, however what would the quality of that life be like?

One of my adventures I love to do is people watching. Being a psychotherapist I use people watching as a form of observational research. I’m not being nosy, you see I’m a scientist of people. Which just means I like to study how people interact with other people. It fascinates me.

Today’s Lesson: You must be a people person to have a meaningful life.

On the journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God it is easy to want to detach yourself from others to avoid being hurt. Because being hurt sucks!

However if you are alive you will be hurt in some form or fashion. What I have found is no one who has a healthy spirit, mind and body wakes up in the morning with the intention to hurt another person. Only people who are hurting in their spirit, mind and body hurt other people.

The way to be a people person is to not detach yourself from others, but to have empathy for others. Try to look from the view of being that person and see how your perception and feelings for them changes.

You don't need to stay in the presence of someone hurting you. On the contrary, you need to understand that we all have been on one or the other side of this coin. Either we have been the one who hurt someone or the one who has been hurt.

So although you must keep yourself safe from abuse, don't hide yourself away on a deserted island alone within your mind or even within your heart and home. Go outside, stay connected to other humans, because your contribution of love and acceptance is healing for the entire world.

Until tomorrow try to be the best people person you can be. #thepeoplescientist
