Day 145: ARE YOU YOUR BROTHER AND SISTER’S KEEPER?

The Journey of Preparation to Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Day 145: ARE YOU YOUR BROTHER AND SISTER’S KEEPER?

This blog topic jumped out at me, when thinking about the situation of our world. I haven't been watching television since the new year, yet I still seem to be updated about the affairs of the world through the exposure to conversations, social posts and amateur commentators.

But what astonishes me or yet disappoints me is the open hate that people have for other people. What baffles me the most is the hate is usually toward someone the person doesn’t personally know. If it’s not the president of the United States, the pro quarterback on an opposing team, the news anchor, a friend/follower/fan/groupie on social media or a fictional character on a television show people are quick to word their hateful opinions, identify the other persons flaws/weaknesses, or to expose them to others.

This reminds me of the story of The Nakedness of Noah and the Cursing of Canaan. After the flood, Noah began to farm the land by planting a vineyard. The result of his toil was the fruit of the vine, wine. Which he acquired a great liking to, which would have him drunk and a hot mess.

It would seem that Noah’s sons Ham, Shem and Jepheth were alerted to their fathers condition so that all three of them were standing outside the tent: “And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside” (Genesis 9:22).

While Shem and Japheth refused to go inside, Ham had no reservations about entering the tent, and then running his mouth about it. And because of this his son Canaan was cursed by Noah, when he sobered up.

On this journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God  adopt the mindset that everyone is your family, and that your job is to protect them. The simplest way to protect your brothers and sisters is not to join in the negative conversations about them, But to cover them with love.

Until tomorrow remember person is God’s child, even if they don't know it, treat them as such. #Iammybrotherandsisterskeeper
