The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Recently I have been doing research on the Wodaabe people. Heralded as one of the most beautiful people in the world, the Wodaabe people live a life where looking good is the norm. They are traditionally nomadic cattle-herders and traders in the Sahel, with migrations stretching from southern Niger, through northern Nigeria, northeastern Cameroon, southwestern Chad and the western region of the Central African Republic. The number of Wodaabe was estimated in 2001 to be 100,000.

A Wodaabe woman can choose a man by his beauty — usually constituted of a long nose, light skin, big eyes and super white teeth. This is why you’ll see the men in ceremonies grinning wide and enlarging their pupils. The makeup they wear is often used to enhance their best features.

There are many indigenous tribes throughout Africa, but none of them are centered around beauty like the Wodaabe people. From macho-men in makeup, to fascinating ceremonies.

Today’s Lesson: It’s all about your paradigm. You are who you believe that you are.

The Wodaabe people from a western standpoint would be considered in abject poverty. However even in their impoverished circumstances they present themselves as regal, beauty, elegance, and wealth.

With no place to call home as related to our standards, they enjoy their morning tea as if they were attending Afternoon tea at the prestigious Ritz London Hotel.

On this journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God you create who you are in this world.

Ways to create who you want to be in this world:

  1. Identify it!: Don’t wait for others to define who you are. You must define yourself. The Wodaabe people didn't wait to be called “The Most Beautiful People In The World”, they defined themselves as such, from the beginning and taught that concept to generations after.

  2. Surround yourself in it! Let everything around you represent who you are. The Wadoobee people all though they have little, those little things reflect their beauty.

  3. Be it! Do what you say you are. The Wadoobee people don't just say they are beautiful, they take care of themselves to be beautiful. They have high grooming techniques, buy the best things, take care of their bodies, with a nutritional diet and respect themselves and each other.

  4. Live it! Live who you are everyday. Don't put it on like a coat or a mask, on and off based on the weather or company, but all the time. When you see the documentaries and read articles regarding the Wadoobee people, it is all consistent. They were not one way with one reporter in 1981 and different with a new one in 2019. They are who they say they are, The Most Beautiful People In The World” inside and out.

So until tomorrow #whodomensaythatyouare

With Beautiful Love
