Day 172: CAN YOU SEE YOUR FUTURE WITH ME?

March 30, 2020

The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Day 172: CAN YOU SEE YOUR FUTURE WITH ME?

Continuing the discussion on the 12 signs “HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU'VE FOUND THE ONE?” (Day 171)

Sign #1

I remember a getaway birthday I had planned in Napa Valley, Ca. Horseback riding, a theater play, picnic on a hill overlooking the vineyards and so much more. My then husband came with me and I was so excited, because unlike me he was not an adventurer. So he participated in most of the activities, but near the end he was done, he refused to do anything else on my extensive itinerary list. His comment was hurtful at the time, but it made me understand our marriage failure and what makes us great co parents now. He said, “Jack why are you trying to bring me into your world?”

I thought we were in the same world...

Today’s Lesson: Your lives must have a shared vision for your future.

On this journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God you must have a vision plan for your life. What does your world look like? Where do you see yourself a year from now, five years from now, ten years from now, twenty years from now. What will you be doing? The big question for those who are currently unmarried, courting, engaged and even married, do you share a vision for the future? Do you see that person sharing the life you envision?

"It's vital that a couple share a basic, overall picture of how they'd like for their lives to unfold — financially, children, spiritually, lifestyle, contribution to the world, etc," Shlomo Zalman Bregman, rabbi and matchmaker in NYC

My ex-husband and I never had this conversation prior to our wedding. I am a traveler, I love to experience new things, go on adventures, meet people. He did not. And unfortunately this brought conflict into our marriage, because I followed his lead and was not authentic to who I was created to be.

How do you know if you and your partner share a vision for the future? Talk about your future goals, desires and dreams. They don't have to be identical, but are they compatible?

So until tomorrow #shareyourvision

With Beautiful Love
