The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 173: I'M A GOOFY NERD, ARE YOU STILL THE ONE?
Continuing the discussion on the 12 signs “HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU'VE FOUND THE ONE?” (Day 171)
Every month I get a marriage proposal from a stranger on social media. They see my pictures or watch my videos and they believe they are in love. If any of my past gentlemen hopefuls are reading this, It's not healthy to jump into a marriage if you don't know who that person is.
Yes I'm beautiful, thank you. Yes, I'm adventurous, thank you. And yes, I am anointed, thank you again. However, you are seeing the edited version of me. I'm also a goofy nerd who loves to read and write every day, and dance while watching Bollywood movies. Am I still the one?
Today’s Lesson: You're both authentic with each other.
Shlomo Zalman Bregman, rabbi and matchmaker in NYC shared during an interview that "Whereas many people go through life holding back major pieces of themselves from everyone else, and only sharing what they want seen — when you find 'the one,' they really can 'see' you," says Bregman. "Moreover, you will feel comfortable to be yourself and feel accepted and loved, without any pretense." And this will color the rest of your relationship. "This backdrop creates a precious opportunity to have truly honest communication and to share love, fears, and hopes without judgment," Bregman says.
On this journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God a sure sign that you are with your forever love is both of your ability to be! Be all of you with no fear of judgment or rejection. But just pure acceptance.
Take time for self reflection here. Are you your authentic self. If not then you are not ready to be with another. If you are your authentic self yet you hide it with the one you love, then you must ask yourself the question, “why?”. If you are your authentic self with your partner and they try to change you to fit their view of how you should be “run Forest run!” Or a more politically correct response would be, to communicate your needs to be you and see if they are willing to embrace all of you.
At the end of the day, if you choose them as the one and you are not your authentic self, it may cause issues in your singleness, marriage and intimacy with God.
So until tomorrow #imagoofynerd are you still the one?
With Beautiful Love
