The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 178: OOPS I DON'T VALUE THAT! WE MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM.
Continuing the discussion on the 12 signs “HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU'VE FOUND THE ONE?” (Day 171)
Have you heard the scripture that says love covers a multitude of sin? Well God didn't say love covers up your values.
Today’s Lesson: They share your values.
Early on in a relationship, the feeling of love is strong and if you ask the ones who are in love it 'conquers all. However, fast forward a few years and the conversation may be a little different. Because after a few years this feeling will wear off, and value conflicts can arise.
So while on this journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God, make sure you're on the same page with your partner early on about your key issues and beliefs. If you don't have these conversations you may find that while you both want to raise your children in a Christian home their view of a Christian home may look dramatically different then your few.
Key values you may want to share could be certain ethics and morals, as well as top life priorities. These can shift from person to person depending on what priorities are most important to them — something as seemingly small as whether one of you wants to travel more than the other, or as life-changing as whether or not you want kids, all have their own weight and importance that is worth sorting out in the early days of the relationship.
If you are, however, on the same page with your partner it is sure to heighten the potential for you both to be one, and yet stay within your singleness.
So until tomorrow know your #personalvalues and see if they match with your forever love.
With Beautiful Love
