The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 184: I, We and Us!
I love this scripture regarding marriage found in Genesis 2:24, Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Today’s Lesson: A happy married couples mantra is: "I, We and US!"
When on the journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God it is important to keep others out!
I: Stay true to your singleness within your marriage is key to a happy marital life. Know where you end and where your partner begins.
We: Staying true to your authentic self, while at the same time being connected to your spouse in a deep intimate way. This is the skill of cleaving together. To cleave or adhere/stick together is done with each person staying their individual selves but joining together making each individual person stronger together, this is called synergy. Remember we are synergy.
Us: And then to everyone outside of your intimacy with your spouse is Us. In other words others should not be invited into the intimacy of your relationship. For example if someone asks you personal questions about your spouse, your response should be...Oh that’s between us! I can't share that information with you.
I have found that one of the greatest causes of conflicts in a marriage as a marriage therapist is that besides God, people have invited others into the inner court of the marriage...sometimes it’s mom, dad, auntie, kids, the boss, the best friend or even the pastor.
To keep a happy and successful marriage keep the mantra, I, We and Us! And watch the flames stay lite!
So until tomorrow keep it #iweus
With Beautiful Love
