The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God
Day 187: I COULD HAVE BEEN SINGLE, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SEE MY LIFE WITHOUT HIM
Continuing the discussion on the “LORD IS THIS A SIGN OF MY FUTURE? (10 keys to ensure a forever kind of love) (Day 186)
I love spending time over my godparents home, because I learn so much about life and about that forever kind of love stuff. They are both in their early 80’s and have been married 63 years. Both very successful in their industries, however their greatest success can be considered their love marriage.
I remember recently as we were having breakfast in their kitchen, my god mom stated during our, “wait for the right one talks”, (which I must say are getting more and more frequent) “I could have been single, but I just couldn't see my life without him”, she then playfully patted my god dad on the chest. His response was a loving and gentle stare into her eyes. They smiled at each other as if they were having an unspoken continued conversation of the years spent within their own created world. Then with a laugh from them both the trance was broken and they returned to our world.
Today’s Lesson: You can’t see your life without your spouse
On this journey of singleness, marriage and intimacy with God, everything doesn't magically become our fairy tail happy ever after, like in our favorite romance movies and novels, after we say I do. On the contrary, during the lifetime of a marriage, there will be ups and downs. Some mountain top experiences, valley experiences, war zone experience and days of extended quarantine, that will test the durability of a marriage.
My godparents are devout believers of Jesus Christ and they have always kept him in the center of their relationship. And with this they have adopted the motto, divorce is not an option. And for them it has worked.
You must adopt as your foundation that no matter what we face, we will face it together, because I can't see doing this life without you in it, by my side.
So until tomorrow are you on #teamnooptout
Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together
