The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Today’s Lesson: Learn the gift of saying yes, when fear bullies you to say no

It was such a beautiful day out here in California I had to continue my momentum from yesterday and spend time out in nature. Since my legs were sore from yesterday's hike, I thought I would take it easy, so I decided to have a picnic in the park.

With my blanket, 6 inch turkey Subway sandwich, and my new book “Year Of Yes”, by Shonda Rhimes in tow, I was set for a deliciously enjoyable afternoon at the park.

For those who don't know Shonda Rhimes, she is the critically acclaimed and award winning creator and executive producer of the hit television series Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal and the executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder and The Catch. She is a brilliant writer, and boy is she funny.

As I was reading the book, I laughed so many times and so hard, I'm sure people thought I was crazy. I even saw one lady move her kid to the other side of her as she walked past me. I didn't care I was enjoying myself.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that like myself, Shonda struggled with shyness, and always said no when asked to do things that scared her. Therefore, she made a pact with herself to say yes for a whole yes. Primarily to things that scared her.

Like I mentioned when I began this blog, I was terrified. It’s easy for me to preach, teach, sing and even dance in front of large crowds. I realized it’s because the message is not my own. I can talk about God all day every day, But when you ask me to talk about me openly and freely, that’s what scares me. Then add to talk about how I feel regarding my love life, I’m halfway having a panic attack.

But here we are at day 214 and I have not died, passed out or ran away. I’m here, writing, evolving, growing, becoming and it’s all do me saying yes.

While you are navigating your journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God you will be confronted by things you are afraid to do. Most likely on the other side of that fear is a great experience, great people, great adventure, great destiny. So your best thing to do is to yes your way through that fear...soon you will be on day 214 and it will be second nature for you to do it.

So if my forever love is reading this blog this would be the best time to ask me on a date….Yes, Yes and Yes….I'm on a roll now! Lol.

So until tomorrow embrace #yearofyes

With Beautiful Love
