Day 217: SILENCE THE NOISE

 

Today’s Lesson: God wants your attention. He has something to say.

 

Right now their is so much noise around us. People angry and hurting. Others commentating and lying.

 

On the journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God, there will be noise fighting for your attention. While some of the noise can prove to be beneficial, others can be consuming and waste your time. To avoid the latter, always take time to silence the noise and hear from God.

 

Ways to silence the noise

 

  1. Shut it down: This is when you go off the grid and disconnect from social media, computer surfing, grazing and even casual conversations. Try to sustain from these activities for at least one day.

  2. Meditation: Spend time managing the conversation going on in your head, by slowing the thoughts in your mind down or even bringing them to a halt. Simple ways to meditate can be to focus on your breath or a rhythmic sound (air condition, fan, tapping, ect). Or to repeat a short mantra silently in your mind. Try to practice this 15 minutes each morning.

  3. Shaqat: This is a Hebrew word which means to be quiet, tranquil, at peace, at rest, to lie still and undisturbed before God. You're not praying, you're not decreeing and declaring. You are sitting in the presence of God and listening for His voice. Adopt this every night before you go to sleep, and you are sure to sleep well and wake up refleshed.
