Day 228: COMPARISON KILLS

June 17, 2020

The Journey of Preparation into Singleness, Marriage & Intimacy With God

Day 228: COMPARISON KILLS

As I ran on my morning run, my heart became overjoyed as I felt grateful for feeling the wind gently hit against my face and the sound of my Nike’s hitting the gravel path. I looked around as I ran past the beautiful evergreen trees and took in a nice deep breath and felt total bliss.

Today’s Lesson: Don't compare yourself with anyone, you are uniquely made

How in the world did my blissful run turn into a rebuke. Well...as I reflected on the trees that I so admired and felt so much joy looking at, God reminded me that no tree in the world is alike. He even went further and said and they don't compete nor compare itself to another tree.

I knew He was ever so gently reminding me not to compare myself to others. Which can be easy to do when looking on social media platforms.

So why do we compare ourselves to others?

Because we don't know who we are and we don't know the danger comparison produces.

The danger of comparing yourself to someone else:

  1. Comparison leads to jealousy,

  2. Jealousy leads to envy,

  3. Envy leads to death.

Proverbs 14:30; A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Envy produces rotteness of bones? The only place I know were rotten bones reside is in a grave.

Being envious may not cause a literal death, although it can, it can also result in a relational death, death of dreams, death of success, death of destiny or even spiritual death. Remember wherever there is envy their is death. If you have envy in your heart look around to see what is dead in your life.

If you have envy and death in your life, you can free yourself and resurrect your life today.

So how do we get delivered from comparing ourselves so that we will not be surrounded by death? You embrace a sound heart. Having a sound heart brings life. (refer to scripture above)

On the journey of preparation into singleness, marriage and intimacy with God having envy in your heart can hinder your journey of become whole and authentic a a single. It will cause death within your pursue to be married or cause death withing your marriage. Envy can also place a distance between you and God. Even if you pray, serve and give yourself to purpose. If you envy another you dishonor God.

In order to have a sound heart you must know the truth. Your truth. And the easiest way to know your truth is to read the word of God.  Read and circle all the things God says’ about you. You can start with Genesis...You are created in the likeness and image of God (Genesis 5:7).

The honor God by saturate your soul with gratitude for who He made you to be. Be grateful for your color, race, weight, height, birth date, birthplace, family origin, education, the good, bad and ugly. Because the presence of gratefulness is the absence of envy. Gratitude and envy can not inhabit the same heart.

So until tomorrow decide today that you will not compare yourself with no man, no woman because your life is the best life..embrace it.

With Beautiful Love
